SUM4Products lead Helen Wilson appointed as new director of Isaac Newton Institute

One of our project leads, Professor Helen Wilson, has been appointed as the next director of the Isaac Newton Institute in Cambridge- also the location for our next Study Group!

In their press announcement, the Isaac Newton Institute writes:

Professor Helen Wilson has been appointed as the next Director of the Isaac Newton Institute for Mathematical Sciences.

Professor Wilson will lead INI from October 2026 until 2031, bringing exceptional experience as a researcher, academic leader, and advocate for collaborative mathematics. As Professor of Applied Mathematics at University College London and former Chair of INI’s Scientific Steering Committee, she combines international research standing with a close understanding of the Institute’s unique role.

Her appointment marks an exciting next chapter for INI. The Institute will continue to support outstanding mathematical research by bringing people together across disciplines, institutions, and national borders, providing the time and space needed for new ideas, methods, and partnerships to develop.
