Welcome to Haolin Yang
Haolin joined the SUM4Products Network as an Innovation Research Associate (InRA) in May and is based at the University of Edinburgh. Prior to this role, he completed his PhD at the University of Glasgow.
His research background is in fluid mechanics, with a particular focus on interfacial instabilities between fluids. He also has experience in haemodialysis modelling, developed through short-term research during his PhD. His mathematical interests lie primarily in industrially-motivated problems within continuum mechanics. Beyond his core expertise, he is keen to step outside his comfort zone, engage with unfamiliar areas, and apply his skills to new domains with real-world impact.
Haolin is particularly attracted to the SUM4Products Network as it provides an opportunity to bridge academic research and industrial applications in formulated products. He is looking forward to contributing to interdisciplinary projects, developing new collaborations, and working on problems that translate mathematical insight into practical solutions.
Outside of work, Haolin enjoys participating in sports such as cycling and football, helping him maintain an active and healthy balance alongside his research.
Welcome to the team, Haolin!
